This coffee comes from the Huila region, south of Bogota, the capital of Colombia. This region of volcanic land and mountains extends over 20,000 km 2 and is one of the 20 coffee producing regions of Colombia. According to the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia, it is the one that produces the most coffee in all of Colombia (around 18%). In the region of Huila, it is therefore produced almost 3% of all the coffee on the planet.
Beyond the abundant production, the quality of this coffee is remarkable. Ashes from volcanoes allow coffee to grow on dry soil (unlike clay); Colombia's tropical climate and the slope of the mountains also explain the potential for coffee development. The Huila produces exclusively Arabica and the most common varieties are: Typica, Bourbon, Castillo, Colombia and Caturra.
Our Opita coffee is a coffee of the Castillo and Caturra varieties, grown between 1,000 and 1,200 meters above sea level.
It is a very round and intense coffee, with a discreet and very sweet retro taste.
